Pharmacy First Scotland
The NHS Pharmacy First Scotland service was launched on the 29th July 2020. Expanding on the previous Minor Ailments Service, all pharmacies in Scotland offer advice and treatment for a range of common conditions to all Scottish patients without having to visit their GP surgery.
NHS Pharmacy First Scotland provides support for,
- People living in Scotland
- Those registered with a Scottish GP Practice
- Residents in care homes and care settings
- People who are experiencing homelessness
- Gypsy/travellers
NHS Pharmacy Scotland will allow community pharmacies to give people expert help treating conditions like sore throats, earache and cold sores. This is along with common clinical conditions like urinary tract infections (UTIs.)
Pharmacy teams offer advice, treatment or referral to other healthcare teams if needed.
This service will help you access the right care in the right place, without having to go to your GP Practice or local A&E for non-urgent treatment.
